Of course it sucks to be sick, but sometimes it is not so harsh when you can sit curled up on couch with a soft blanket, a cat curled up beside you, and something good on the television.

Tonight, I had back-to-back musicgeeky goodness (on Showtime of all channels!) starting with the riveting documentary Edgeplay: A Film about The Runaways followed by the documentary Mayor of the Sunset Strip about the wonderful Rodney Bingenheimer.

For Edgeplay, I was saddened to catch it about 30 minutes in, but what I saw was very powerful. I mean, I am not the *biggest* fan of The Runaways -- I own some of their music, always thought The Donnas reminded me a bit of them, couldn't ignore the bigger future careers of Joan Jett (yummy) and Lita Ford, etc. -- but they always sort of fascinated me. I mean, here was a band of teenage girls thrown together and put through a ton of shit, but they survived (albeit somewhat battered). Anyway, I am certainly going to get the DVD of this film for my collection. Showtime is apparently giving this film a lot of attention, so keep an eye out for it, if you are interested.

For Mayor of Sunset Strip, it was so nice to get a bit inside Rodney Bingenheimer's head and sit back in awe of his amazing career. I have always adored him, but with him being such a quiet and private man, I barely knew much about him until I watched this. It was so great to see how much of a mark he has made on the music industry and it almost makes you wonder where things would be without him. For those of you who don't know him, in short he is a KROQ DJ who is famous for playing bands on the radio for the first time and changing the landscape of popular music. He played people such as David Bowie, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, etc. for the first time in the US, when *no one* else was! Here is a mini-bio on him, if you are interested. I [heart] him so.

Well, off to take some Nyquil and get some good sleep.
