Jack White is apparently wanted by American police after an alleged fight with the singer of rival Detroit rock icons The Von Bondies, dotmusic can exclusively reveal.
According to reports emerging online this afternoon, The White Stripes frontman was involved in a violent fracas with Jason Stollsteimer at the Magic Stick venue in Detroit on Saturday evening.
Rumours are now suggesting that Stollsteimer is in hospital recovering from the fight, whilst an arrest warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jack White following the clash. These reports remain unconfirmed however.
An eye-witness at the show claimed White and Stollsteimer traded blows during a set by fellow Detroit rock figurehead Brendan Benson, with White storming from the venue after the fight.
The eye-witness claimed: "I arrived early and was pleased to see Jack in attendance. I sort of gravitated toward him, I guess wanting to be in the presence of greatness.
"I was about 4 feet away from him during Brendan's set. He was laughing and joking with two guys and their girls during the set. He turned and started walking toward the back stage area and made a right hand turn toward the front of the stage.
"He went immediately toward Jason and got in his face. They were yelling at each other (I thought it may have been because they were right in front of the speakers) when I saw Jack spit in Jason's face. Jason shoved Jack and Jack punched him.
"They immediately went to the floor. I forced my way through the crowd to get to them and when I made it there (between 5 and 10 seconds) Jack had him pinned to the floor and was hitting him. I grabbed Jack around the waist and tried to pull him off Jason, but he had hold of him with his left hand while he beat him with the right.
"Someone finally got Jack to break his hold on Jason and I picked Jack up off him (I am 6ft 4 and 380 lbs for those doubting I could pick him up). I set Jack on his feet and he looked back at Jason on the floor and pushed his way through the crowd and left.
"It took three people to help Jason off the floor and to the back stage area. They were walking toward the stairs to the front door at first, then decided to take him back stage."
The music press has been rife in recent months with reports speculating about the collapse of White and Stollsteimer's relationship, which appears to have culminated in this alleged fracas.
The White Stripes' UK label, Beggars Banquet, have this afternoon declined to comment on the story.

According to the below Detroit Police Department report, White got into a beef with Jason Stollsteimer, a singer/guitarist with The Von Bondies, a Motor City band. Stollsteimer, 25, told cops that after he declined to speak with White, the rock star "became enraged" and without warning pulled him to the ground and punched him "on right eye approx. 7 times." White, who co-produced a 2002 Von Bondies album and has been recently feuding with the band, fled to the rear of the club while Stollsteimer subsequently received medical treatment. Officers reported that Stollsteimer suffered "large swelling/bruising" to his right eye and had a bloody nose. Tara Dunlop, a police spokesperson, told TSG that Detroit prosecutors are reviewing the incident and that White would most likely be hit with a misdemeanor assault rap. White, who is also known for dating actress Renee Zellweger, later filed a cross-complaint, claiming that he actually got pulled to the floor by Stollsteimer, who began throttling him "about the face & body," according to White's police report. In defending himself, White told cops he pounded Stollsteimer with his fists. The only damage White sustained were cuts to his left hand and "redness in his face."
