WHITE STRIPES CAR CRASH LEADS TO FESTIVAL CANCELLATIONS
THE WHITE STRIPES have sensationally pulled out of their headline
slots at T IN THE PARK and WITNNESS this weekend after JACK WHITE was
injured in a car smash.
The star suffered a fracture in his left hand in the accident on
Wednesday (July 9), making it impossible to play guitar.
NME.COM understands that White's Hollywood star girlfriend Renee
Zellweger was in the car with him at the time of the crash, though
she was not injured.
White was driving in Detroit around 1pm when another car drove into
him. There are no other details of the smash available at present.
It is unclear who will replace the band for the weekend festivals or
how long the injury will keep The White Stripes off the stage.
A spokesperson for the band's label XL Recordings said: "The White
Stripes vocalist and guitarist Jack White has injured his hand in a
car accident, which took place in Detroit at 1pm on Wednesday the 9th
of July. White suffered a compound fracture to his left index finger.
As a result, The White Stripes will unfortunately be unable to
perform at this weekend's T In The Park and Witnness festivals."
