We've talked about "Amy's Choice" and Eleven before (and his hands, unwilling to touch her, omg), but yes! I think my favorite Eleven-era episode probably *is* still "The Eleventh Hour," because it hits so many of my narrative favorites, but I'll always love "Amy's Choice" because of what it tells us about the Doctor. And I think Amy is integral to that, in a way, because "Then what is the point of you?" wouldn't have the same punch to it if Amy hadn't spent her childhood dreaming about the Doctor who saves people: it's the fact that her expectations are so fixed, I think, that allows various episodes (like this one, but also "The God Complex" and "The Girl Who Waited") to play off of them in interesting ways.
And this is why "The Beast Below" and "Amy's Choice" work in concert, for me: the one tells Amy that the Doctor is old and kind, and the other is the flip side of that, all the darkness in the old man.
