This is a very interesting view of the episode, and since it's not a worldview that I have much experience with, I am rather fascinated with the ideas you present. You're right, you can't have a 900+ year old time traveler from another planet and expect him to have 20th century normative relationships. But it's the view of Reinette's thought process that really strikes me. In the historical context, someone in her position would be very familiar with different levels of intimacy and "possession" in relationships. With that in mind, her reaction to the Doctor throughout the episode becomes all the more poignant.
