radiantbaby: (reading is sexy)
Okay, another email post as I have had no time online in the past 48 hours or so. Things are a bit busy here at work, but working on this might keep me a bit sane.

The reason I wanted to post is that I have been having odd experiences with bugs lately. Yes, bugs. I mean, they haven't really been attacking me or anything (well, unless you count Friday at PPN, eh [livejournal.com profile] iamtamtamiam?), they have just really been making their presence known more so than ever. I wouldn't ever think much about it otherwise, but it seems that I have had about 3 experiences in the last 2 weeks or so where I have been visited by unusual bugs.

The first one I saw, I believe to have been a snail, but I am not sure because it looked like it may have had wings (I can't remember). Anyway, it was white with some bits of blue on it and was first on my front door and later that night on the railing by the door. I remember thinking, "Hmm, what an interesting creature," and just going about my day. I haven't seen it since.

A few days later I was walking to my car in the parking lot at work to go home when I saw another unusual bug. This time it was an interesting thing that was a spider-like bug that had a narrow bright reddish orange body and black legs, probably about an inch long. I think it also had a black stripe across it's back as well. It was running too fast across the parking lot for me to get more detail, though I attempted to follow it until it lost itself in some grass by the curb. It was actually sort of pretty for a bug, but I had never seen one that looked like that, so I just blew it off.

Then last night when I was leaving to go meet [livejournal.com profile] justben at his work for our date, a pretty brightly colored bug caught my eye sitting on the wall next to my front door. It was a small winged creature with wings that were bright yellow and pink. It was odd and certainly not a butterfly. I mentioned it to [livejournal.com profile] justben when I met up with him and later when he came back to my place, I showed it to him (it was still sitting there). He dismissed it as a moth and it could have been, but as I said then, "A moth with pink and yellow wings?"

Now, I will be the first to admit that I have little knowledge of the various members of the bug community. In fact, I somewhat wish that my ex and I were on speaking terms again so that I could ask his mother, an ex-Biology teacher and self-proclaimed bug enthusiast, what they were. Still, I can't help thinking that perhaps they were something more than mere insects.

For those of you that have dealt with creatures such as fey, how do they appear to you?

I mean, it might not be them, but I have so little experience with the fey folk, that I have no idea. Hell, they could be aliens for all I know. I have just been curious. Perhaps I am just going insane. That is very possible as well...
