sweetness!
Jul. 29th, 2003 07:37 pmoh joy!
little did i know when i got up this morning that today would prove to be an amazing day!
upon arriving at work, i was asked to interview for a position in accounts recievable that i had applied for last week. i was thoroughly nervous as i felt very underqualified, though my boss urged me to at least go for it (i am currently in another dept. -- client services).
so, at 1:30 i had my interview. i was terrified as i didn't have much time to prepare, but luckily the person i was interviewing with was someone who i had done special projects for since the beginning of this year, so she was already unofficially my boss in some ways. so, here i was, ready to sell myself, when basically the interview started with: "i was so glad to see that you applied for this position. i know that you have the skills to do this job, i just need to know that you want it."
can you believe that?
it was the strangest interview, i hardly even spoke as she pretty much pointed out to me how i was qualified! i then interviewed with her two team leads who i had worked with a bit as well and that interview was even stranger as it was more like a gab session than anything formal.
so, afterwards i held my breath and hoped for the best for myself or my teammate (who also applied). later we found out that we would hear something "by the end of the day", so needless to say, neither of us could concentrate on our work for the rest of the day! we started to worry as 5:00 got nearer and nearer. kelly (my teammate) pretended to not know the "end of day" story and emailed darcy (the one who interviewed us) about when we might know an answer. she replied to kelly that she would know "by noon tomorrow."
things began to look dismal. soon it was about 5:15 and almost time for us to leave (we work until 5:30). then, like a miracle, i got an email from darcy asking if i could stay a bit late so that we could "talk." score!
so, of course, you know how this story ends. i went to her office, she offered me the job and said she was "really excited" to have me join her team. yay! she also said she would find out the exact numbers about my salary by tomorrow, but that it should be a "significant increase" to what i make now. double yay! oh, and there is an incentive bonus for keeping on top of what our clients owe us and though i do not know the full details yet, the bonus amount is $400. triple yay!
joy!
