Well, this weekend ended up going better than I anticipated. I was a little nervous about bringing [livejournal.com profile] justben to meet my visiting family (my mother's twin sister Stella, their brother Ron, and his wife Judy), but everything seemed to go very well...

We went over to my parent's house for the gathering around 4:00 in the afternoon on Saturday, waiting for Mom to return from the airport with Stella. Ron and Judy had come in a few days previous and were leaving Sunday, whereas Stella was just arriving on Saturday and staying until sometime late this week. Since Saturday would be one of the only days everyone would be together, the family decided to have a big cookout. I spoke with Judy while I awaited Stella's arrival (Ron had went to the airport with Mom to get her) and it was nice to see her. In our conversation we realized that it had been about 10 years since we'd last seen one another and I tell you, she looks really good (she has always had issues with her weight and was now down to at least half the size she was the last time I'd see her).

Soon after we got there, everyone else arrived and preparations for dinner began. I ended up having to run to the grocery store with Mom, my sister Chrissy, and [livejournal.com profile] justben for a few ingredients and such that were needed, plus for the makings of my famous spinach dip which I had to make or take my own life into my hands! The dinner plan was that Rob, my brother-in-law, was going to cook up some steaks for everyone, and then we'd have various other side dishes (various fruits, baked potatoes, my spinach dip, etc.). Rob is the cosummate grill-master, so he was in fine form cooking for all of us. It was quite a crowd for dinner - myself, [livejournal.com profile] justben, Mom, Dad, Dad's friend Bill, his wife, their daughter Ashley, April (my sister's real sister - Chrissy is basically my foster sister), Chrissy, Rob, Aunt Stella, Aunt Judy, Uncle Ron, and my niece Jenna (I don't think I left anyone out). It all turned out very good though, I was very pleased.

After dinner, [livejournal.com profile] justben set about to attempt to fix an issue with one of my father's computers and the rest of us socialized, most of the people leaving here and there until it was just my parents, [livejournal.com profile] justben, myself, my aunts, and my uncle. We all talked until late into the night (about 1:00 AM, I believe), [livejournal.com profile] justben finally giving up on the computer issue and joining us. [livejournal.com profile] justben really impressed them though (at least from what I can tell). At one point I was talking about him and my two Aunts and mom all said "Can we go propose to him now for you?" - it was funny. They were especially impressed when he sang for them. He sang a bit of some song in Italian (What song was it [livejournal.com profile] justben? You never said) and that won many brownie points as my mother, my Aunt Stella, and my Uncle Ron are all half-Italian (Aunt Judy is Mormon).

Anyway, we found out from my parents that the east-west connector becomes Barrett Pkwy, so we took that adventure home after goodbyes were said to the family and then we got back to [livejournal.com profile] justben's sometime after 2:00AM. We got up pretty late on Sunday (around 2:00, I believe) and had a quick lunch at El Azteca before [livejournal.com profile] justben had to go into work to finalize the stage of an important project he was working on. I had plans to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] toxigenic74 after lunch, but the two of us were too exhausted from our respective nights previous that we rescheduled for next week. I then just went home and relaxed the rest of the day.
