The Doctor's Wife & The Rebel Flesh
May. 15th, 2011 05:37 pmDon't really have time for a proper post, yet, but I did want to mention in passing MY UTTER AND UNDYING LOVE FOR NEIL GAIMAN'S WHO EP 'THE DOCTOR'S WIFE' (and yes, when speaking about said episode, it must be in CAPSLOCK).
I've seen it described as a 'love letter to Doctor Who' and no truer words were said. If you see any Who episodes this season, at least see this one (it's pretty stand-alone-ish overall, so don't worry about missing a story arc). It's even got some Classic!Who references for you fellow old!skool fans.
ANYWAY, IT IS SO WORTH YOUR TIME, IF ONLY FOR THE 'PULL TO OPEN' BIT (GENIUS!) AND THE MANY, MANY CREYS (*wibble*).
Not sure if it's my favorite episode ever (that might still be 'Amy's Choice' -- for New!Who, at least), but it is definitely in the top five. Yes.
Oh, and I've already been in love with Suranne Jones for ages (I was honestly looking forward to the ep more for her than anyone else), but now I love her EVEN MOAR. SURANNE! MARRY ME!
(I NEED AN IDRIS -- OR IDRIS/DOCTOR -- ICON, STAT.)
+ + +
Also, just saw this second trailer (different than the 'next time' trailer) for the next episode -- 'The Rebel Flesh' (part one of a two parter). THIS LOOKS SCARY. I'm NGL, the trailer freaked me out a bit, especially:
Here it is:
( trailer #2 )
You can see more clips/previews for 'The Rebel Flesh' here at the 'Blogtor Who' blog (or on the official BBC site, natch). SPOILERS ABOUND**, OF COURSE, SO TREAD CAREFULLY.
+ + +
And finally, there was a 'secret video' posted on the official site that looks intriguing (You can see it here on 'Blogtor Who' -- I couldn't seem to get it to embed here, sorry).
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN??
OH, SHOW. *grasps heart*
---------------------
** FWIW, I'm actually not as anti-spoiler as the Moff is (I don't really agree with his recent statement that a good story 'relies on surprise' -- I think a good story relies on good writing and if the story takes me on a 'good' journey, then I don't personally care if I've been spoiled before hand. In most cases, at least. Still, I'll try my best to 'properly' warn for spoilers in my posts when I can, for those that are spoilerphobic.

The very end with Eleven screaming and terrified. I don't like seeing my Doctor like that. O_O.
(highlight for spoiler-ish thing -- yeah, my spoiler html sucks, but I wasn't sure how to do it proper). Here it is:
