Okay, well, maybe not those kinds of eels, but this is a post about eels nonetheless.
So, anyone who has had sushi with me can attest that I love-love-love eel sushi. Well, about a month ago I went over to this totally cute Japanese restaurant between work and home and the people were so pleasant there they even gave me a 10% off coupon for my next visit. I checked the coupon the other day and saw that it expires tomorrow, so I decided with Thursday being one of the few evenings I am on my own, I would hop over there for dinner tonight.
Anyway, though sushi certainly sounded really nice, I thought I would try something different tonight. I scanned the menu, at first finding mostly things I had at least tried before. Then one thing jumped out at me on the dinner menu -- "Unaju" (broiled eel on rice -- here's a pic I found online: http://clubweb.interbaun.com/fenske/float441.jpg). It sounded completely delicious and an interesting presentation, so excitedly I ordered it.
I have only one thing to say about it -- it completely ruled! In fact, I might even venture to say that it could very well be my favorite dish!
Anyway, I am very excited about my new culinary discovery, so I just had to share. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it.
Yum. Yum.
