What makes me angry is this is happening everytime I fall in love with a band - either they are dead, break up 6 months later, or the member who added the admirable essence of the band changes completely or something is revealed to me that makes me question if that essence was really admirable in the first place. I'm speaking of Nirvana, Silverchair, Hole, The White Stripes (maybe...), The Vines...the list goes on and on.

yes, i feel the same. it seems each time i touch that beautiful purity with a band, it soon get sullied by the trappings of fame. even bands with the best intentions seem to get caught up in this. my only hope for jack is that his long time friends (who happen to mostly be humble musicians themselves) push his feet back on the ground, because i can only imagine what it is doing to his relationships with them.
i am happy to hear that you had such a great experience meeting jack amd meg. i can only hope if i ever get such a chance, the odds will favor me with an encounter more like yours than with the same devastating snubs going on nowawdays.
